As per usual I am behind with the weekly challenges set for our group the Southern Belles, so I have tried to catch up with these three cards. The first card is Unusal Background Challenge:

For this unusal backgound I have taken Whisper White cardstock and dobbed three different purple shades of colour and stippled them with a brush to blend the colours together. Then once dry I have stamped the background stamp “Floral” in Perfect Plum ink on top of the painted backgound.

Gloss Card Challenge:

This gloss card challenge I have used the crayon resist technique. Stamp your image in Stazon Black ink, then with a white crayon, colour in parts of the stamped image you want to leave white, then with the colour of your choice ( I have used Regal Rose) sponge over the stamped images to create the crayon resist effect.

Quick Card Challenge:

I find making christmas cards I don’t want to have to spend a lot of time in making, especially when you have to make alot so I thought this card is perfect for the quick card challenge as it is very quick and easy to make.

This weeks Southern Belles challenge was to make a card with an unusual fold, which got me thinking back to a card class I taught about 4 years ago which was a card called Fold Out Z Cards. So here is two cards I have made with this unusual fold.

Here are the Instructions:

Cut a piece of cardstock 7¼” x 9¼”, from the left side score at 2½” and 4¾”. Fold the first score (2½”) to the back and the second score (4¾”) to the front forming a Z. Using Bone folder crease well and unfold and lay out flat. Cut two 2½” x 7¼” strips of pattern paper or coloured cardstock. Adhere one on the left edge of the card and the other on the right edge. Cut 3 circles 2½” in size from cardstock and embelish with your chosen stamp image. ( I have also used the 1¼” Circle Punch and 1 3/8″ Circle Punch to place on top of the 2½” cut circles). Once you have adhered your circles together, Adhere circles down the centre of the first fold. Cut along the outside right half of the circle with a craft knife. Fold card back into the Z fold and your finished.

One of my friends who I meet regularly with to scrapbook has been unwell of late and has been in and out of hospital a few times over the last few weeks. So I have made this card, which I hope will cheer her up.

I have used the colour Temping Turquoise as the base of this card because this is her favourite colour, I also added Brillant blue and matted it on to black cardstock. I used one of the stamps from the True Friend Stamp set and stamped it in Versa Mark for the background. For the flower stamp I have used the Tempting Turquoise and Green Galore Stampin’ Write Markers. I have stamped the words Thinking of you from the Hostess set- For a Friend in Brillant Blue ink. Then added some ribbon and a gem to the centre of the flower.

I have chosen a masculine look for this pocket card using the Enjoy Every Moment stamp set. I tend to only make masculine cards when the purpose arises, there is really no occasion at this present time for me needing a male card, but I decided to make it anyway. You never know when you will need one. I really like this colour combination of Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy, Chocolate Chip and Bashful Blue.

Here is the pocket showing the insert.
